Dr. Mark H. Feldman, DPM Podiatric Surgeon

Dr. Feldman is implanting the inbone and star ankle implants as the Beuchel-Pappas prosthesis is only available in Europe.

Please note: This site has 20 pages containing information about total ankle prostheses.

As an Orthopedic Surgeon, Podiatric Surgeon, Family Physician, Internist, Physiatrist, Podiatrist, PT/Rehabilitation Therapist or Rheumatologist, you see patients who have debilitating ankle pain from rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis from previously fractured ankles. Until now, these patients faced ankle fusion as the only possible source of pain relief. Total ankle joint replacement is a proven alternative to debilitating ankle fusion. It is so successful that in some cases it is possible to take down a fused ankle and replace it with a functioning ankle joint.

Please note that Dr. Feldman is happy to talk to any prospective patient but it is imperative that I see your current weight bearing foot and ankle x-rays to see if you are implantable. I will call you when I see the x-rays. I do not review x-rays sent by email as there is too much chance for error. If you are implantable, you can talk to some of the 80+ patients, ages 15-83 I have implanted over the past 12 years, who came from 12 states in the United States. I have also implanted several Americans in Europe, as well as South and Central America.
If you are implantable, please send x-rays by UPS or FedEx (sometimes the USPS loses them). Click here for more information.

The Buechel-Pappas implant is currently only available in Europe. I currently use other prostheses. In the US, I have been trained to use the Agility Inbone as well as the STAR
ankle implant.
The company that made the Buechel-Pappas implant in the US was sold several years ago and the new company makes only knee prostheses. It is possible that the Buechel-Pappas implant will be available in the future for Americans in the USA but at this time it is not. I have implanted 130+ patients , ages 15-83 when implanted, who came to Miami from 12 states.
